Greetings from Lou

Welcome to the first ever Hoopeston Public Library blog entry.  We are trying to keep up with the times and put the library news out where everyone can find it.  Many things are happening here at HPL.  The LSTA grant from the Illinois State Library, a Department of the Office of the Secretary of State provided funding for four classes on starting an online business and 10 NEW computers.  Microsoft Office 2007 has just been installed on all 10 of these computers as well as DreamWeaver software.  They have card readers for those of you who want to send photos along with your email correspondence. The grant provided digital cameras for lending to patrons along with a video projector and new AV presentation screen.

April promises to be very  busy with children’s programs and movies for youth and families.  The U of I Extension will be here from 4:30 to 5:30 on Tuesday, April 14 to present a free program, Cinco de Mayo.  Be sure to call 217-283-6711 to register for this event.

There will be a 2 pm movie session on April 13 for kids and families.  Please call the library for additional information.  You will be surprised!

April is National Poetry Month.  Do you like to write poetry? The library would like to display your poems.  Please submit them at either the front desk or the children’s desk downstairs.  All ages are welcome to submit a poem.

National Library Week is April 12 to 18.

SEE YOU AT THE LIBRARY!
